Ketchup, Yum- Day 2 Sundara

Or should I say catch up, because that's exactly what I need to do with this blog. No this entry has nothing really to do with ketchup, though I did enjoy some with hot sauce on my bagel sandwich this morning. I'm the sloppiest eater these days. I'll have to watch my manners a bit more now that I'll be dining alone (because of course you pay attention while eating with friends, right?). Even without company, it's not pleasant for those around to see me continue to drop scrambled eggs on the table, pick them up with my fingers and put them on the side of my plate (no, not for consumption... I'm not THAT intense). I'm not in Kansas (Morocco) anymore.

Anyhow, so let's get down to yesterday's details. It was again a foggy and drizzly day, but I found that to be nice from the heated pool watching the fog drift through the woods. As my brother pointed out, it was very "Twilight". I feel really lame comparing that beautiful scenery to such an awful teen movie, but it really is the best way to describe what Wisconsin Dells looked like over the past few days.

I started my morning pretty early. I wanted to have breakfast and then do Sundara's bath ritual before my massage and facial... I know, I know... I splurged. It was more money than I wanted to spend, but I've been so stressed out! Plus, I just found out my taxes will be lower than I thought, so I saved more money than I needed. That's always a nice surprise.

The free breakfast buffet was small, but really good. They had bacon, potatoes, scrambled eggs with and without vegis, bagels, english muffins, fruit, cereal, and yogurt. After eating what was possibly too much, I went downstairs to enjoy the spa. After receiving my sandstone scrub, I checked out a locker space, and headed for the showers that come down like rainfall... this is the spot where you scrub up with the stuff they give you. Next comes the steam room after spritzing yourself with some aromatic spray. Then another shower before the hot and cold pools. You alternate between pools supposedly to get your blood flowing... It's a nice effect, but the cold pool is pretty darn cold and somewhat torturous considering you can't really jump in (too small).

Just outside that room is the quiet room where they serve iced tea, iced water, fruit, and hot tea. It's a good place to relax, and read or meditate. Outside, there is a pool, fire ring, and hot tub. I enjoyed this area for about an hour and a half before my massage therapist came and got me.

So this massage really was as good as it sounded in the brochure. They take an aromatherapy massage oil candle, light it, and then use the warm melted oil for a full body massage. The guy who gave me the massage was really nice (super professional of course, but it's always appreciated and I thought I should note it) and we talked the whole time. He is originally from Bulgaria, and has his Masters in Environmental Studies. He tried to transfer it to the US, but the degree fell more in line with agricultural engineering. We were discussing the job listings in the front of the economist. It was such an interesting massage conversation. He said he gets to meet really interesting people and that he gave a massage to one of the top guys of the EPA once. And yes, the massage was excellent too.

I exited the room feeling very relaxed and happy, and he met me outside with the remainder of my candle in a nice little baggy with mints. Next I headed to my facial done by a very nice woman with a calming voice. She told me I have beautiful skin (flattery will get you everywhere ;-) ). She put some cooling things over my eyes and then assessed my skin with a very bright light. They don't do extractions (good, ouch), but she used a nice cleanser and exfoliate. She massaged my face, neck, chest, arms and legs as she applied different soothing creams, steamed my face with a lovely smelling warm mist, and applied various warm wash cloths to my face around my nose. It felt really nice! This was a facial I would be quite happy to do again.

After my facial, I went back up to my room and then headed out to the barbecue place and outlet mall. I wasn't that interested in the outlet mall but because of the fog, I could barely see the signs in front of me enough to drive and I just ended up there. I went into Banana Republic and saw a few cute things on sale. I headed back out and finally made it to the Barbecue Place. I think it's called Famous Dave's BBQ or something like that. It's a chain, but I don't think we have them in the North East. I ordered a half rack of ribs with medium bbq sauce, beans, and mashed potatoes. Yum!

To finish out the evening, I returned to the spa after dark to take in some of the outdoor nighttime atmosphere before my spray tan. I felt a little silly getting this, but I've never had one before. I thought maybe it wouldn't turn my skin orange... well, I was sorta right. My face looks good, and legs, not bad... My hands and back are kind of a joke. In fake light you can't tell, but in natural daylight, it's BAD. I have orange hands. I'll take a photo tomorrow and attach it. Really, it's quite funny. They said my hands would fade a bit faster than the rest of me, and I'm really okay with that.

After the spray tan, time for bed, and that's where I'll leave this one. Stay tuned for photos, and To the Hostel!!!
