Day 3 in Seattle and to Portland

Day 3 in Seattle and then on the road again...

It's morning and time to jump my car. I have no jumper cables, but Emil and Kirsten, being the good friends they are, head out to get coffee and check around to purchase some while I shower. They returned successful, and a clean me, and Kirsten headed out to find someone to give us a jump. First try- success! The guy is really nice and it takes about two minutes.

...and we are on our way to Fredmont and to Roxy's. Check out that breakfast below- potato pancakes, apple sauce, sour cream, eggs, and bacon with a bacon bloody mary. And it was really just that good.

My friend Mike from high school and Mia from Peace Corps met us out. Unfortunately Mia didn't have much time, but at least I had the chance to say goodbye.

We headed to the market and to Theo Chocolate. I managed to get away from the market without buying anything, but I needed some more of the Theo Salted Caramels (yummmm). We wanted to take a tour and didn't realize you had to call ahead. No worries... unlimited samples at the store. I may have tried every kind twice. We stopped in a vintage store/antique mall on our way back. There were some fabulous photos on the way as you can see. Emil liked Betty Page.

I'm not sure exactly what this rocket is, but we had to get a photo with it. No matter what we did, we couldn't get the whole thing in the photo with us in it too... So I took two photos. :-)

And away we go...

Finally, to Brouwers. They were doing tastings of Barley Wine. We actually didn't like it that much, but we can now say we tried 5 different kinds of Barley Wine. At least we can be absolutely sure we didn't like it.

This statue is kinda silly, but I thought it was worth a photo.

And there we have it... Barley Wine Fest.

After the little bit of Barley Wine (not much... not even close to a glass each), we left Fredmont. It was about time for me to head to Portland, and Kirsten and Emil had stuff going on that evening. I really enjoyed Seattle- seeing my friends, and spending time in a new city. I hope I get to go back sometime.

I arrived in Portland, got some lettuce wraps at PF Changs and headed to bed.

Tomorrow- Portland and the Pacific Coast
